Unpaid overtime hours fall again

Fewer people are working unpaid overtime, as the number of hours people work unpaid fell for the fourth year in a row this year.
According to the Trades Union Congress 4.76m workers did unpaid overtime last year – a six per cent fall since 2001.
The average amount of unpaid overtime was 7.4 hours a week for those workers who worked extra hours unpaid.
And only 19.4% of the workforce worked overtime unpaid, down from 21% in 2001.
However the TUC said that the UK had a way to go to catch up with the European average, as only 6.3% of people in the EU worked unpaid overtime.
