Britons, cars and the open road
30th August 2007 by Tim
Britons clock up 15 million miles per year on holiday road trips, according to research by Halifax Travel Insurance.
The average holidaymaker drives 861 miles each year, the distance between London to Nice.
Paul Birkhead, senior manager of pricing and underwriting for Halifax Travel Insurance commenting on the environment effects said: “ Briton’s can reduce the ecological impact caused by these road trips by switching to hybrid powered cars, which will not only benefit the environment but the money you could save on fuel is enough to pay for your annual travel insurance.”
Unfortunately, only one percent of Britons intending a road trip in the next 12 months plan to hire a hybrid car.
