It’s not just the budget retailers with produce on offer for a pittance, either. Asda, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s and Tesco all have vegetables on offer for less than the price of a Freddo in 2025.
Ben Smye, consumer expert at Hotukdeals, said that as well as cheaper carrots, broccoli and cabbage, there will be opportunities to bag bargains after the fun of a four-day weekend is over.
Smye said: “I’d expect a few more offers in the run-up to Easter, but those really looking to save will wait until after Easter, as that’s when supermarkets will offer deep discounts on Easter chocolate to clear stock.”
Here’s YourMoney.com’s round-up of the leading deals in the food aisles this Easter.
Aldi
If you are a traditionalist at this time of year and a roast dinner is on the menu, Aldi is the place for the cheapest lamb on the market.

You can get a whole leg for £6.15 per kilogram, which could feed up to four of you, while the budget retailer has slashed prices on its seasonal vegetables as part of its ‘Super Six’ deal up until 19 April.
This means you can pick up some vegetables for as little as 8p.
The offer includes:
- Nature’s Pick Broccoli (8p, 360g each) – was 79p
- Nature’s Pick Loose Garlic (15p each) – was 37p
- Nature’s Pick Cucumber (59p each) – was 89p
Other vegetables have been reduced by up to 94% and are on offer until 21 April (or 20 April in Scotland).
They are:
- Nature’s Pick Carrots – was 69p, now 8p
- Nature’s Pick Spring Onions – was 69p, now 15p
- Nature’s Pick White Potatoes– was £1.35, now 8p
The bold move by Aldi sparked a price war in UK supermarkets, and Morrisons reacted by matching the deal on bags of seasonal veg.
Morrisons
However, the deal on selected food is available for More Card customers. The price drops mean 1kg of British carrots, 500g of parsnips, and whole swedes cost just 8p each for members of the loyalty scheme.
Further, a premium range 2kg bag of its ‘The Best’ range of potatoes was slashed in half to be priced at just £1.10.
Those offers run until 20 April, so you’ll have to move before the weekend if you’re treating yourself, friends or family to a big Easter Sunday lunch.
Asda
Asda made its move in the seasonal veg war by slashing the prices of bags of veg for your lunch, dinner or tea (delete based on geography as appropriate). The supermarket ‘rolled back’ its prices on the veg to just 8p for all customers, with no loyalty card required.
The price reductions included the following:
- 1kg of carrots (was 69p)
- British swede (was 62p)
- 360g of broccoli (was 79p)
- 500g of parsnips (was 75p)
- 2kg of white potatoes (was £1.35)
To complete your feast this Easter, Asda also has prices reduced on centrepieces to dig into by up to 50%.
- Lamb Leg – £6.17 per kilogram, down from £12.34 per kilogram
- Tender Beef Roasting Joint (typically 2kg) – £5.68 per kilogram, down from £11.36 per kilogram
- Roasting Boneless Pork Leg Joint (priced per kilogram), serving a family of 8-10 – £3.48 per kilogram, down from £5.98 per kilogram – a 42% saving
- Unsmoked Gammon Joint (typically 1.8kg) – down to £4.74 from £6.20
- Boneless Salmon Side (800g) – £9.14, down from £18.28
Those reductions from Asda last until 23 April, so you have time after the bank holiday to stock up for the week ahead.
Lidl
Lidl announced its reductions on seasonal veg at the start of the month as the cheapest on the market until it was usurped by its rivals.
However, you can still pick up a 1kg bag of carrots, a 2kg bag of white potatoes and 220g of green beans for only 15p.
Other items on the 15p list include spring onions (per bunch), a whole swede and half a kilo of parsnips.
Sainsbury’s and Waitrose
Elsewhere, Sainsbury’s matched the 15p craze for veg across the same items, but shoppers will need a Nectar card to enjoy the price cut. The majority of Easter egg offers require you to have a loyalty card this year, and many are rising in price but shrinking in size.
But Waitrose has a range of fancy alternatives with big reductions included.
These include the extra large KitKat Chunky Crunchy Choc Brownie Incredible, which is down from £12 to £9, and the ‘large’ Lindt Lindor Dark Chocolate Mint Egg and Truffles, reduced from £13 to £11.
Also, a large Ferrero Raffaello White Chocolate Coconut & Almond Large Easter Egg is now down to £12.50 after a £4.50 price drop.
Finally, it wouldn’t be Easter without a Crème Egg, and the retailer has cracked the price of a pack of five by £1.15 to just £2.85.
