One of the biggest moments in the TV calendar has become who and what will appear in all of the supermarkets' Christmas adverts this year.

Waitrose opted for a whodunnit storyline featuring a star-studded cast of comedians, while Morrisons celebrated family chefs set to the Bugsy Malone song Give A Little Love sung by a choir.

Now they have all hit our screens, it can only mean supermarkets are ramping up their offers for the Christmas countdown.

With the big day just 50 sleeps away, here are the freshest offers in November so you can get ahead of the festive rush.

Sainsbury’s is offering £15 off your first shop if you spend over £80 on a grocery shop online for all orders before 30 November.

Shoppers need to put the code SCSEO24NO15 at the checkout to cash in the e-coupon from the retailer. You can only use this code if you have not used it before and this is only valid on your first shop.

The offer excludes purchases on spirits, liqueurs and wines bought using the ‘buy six and save 25% off’ promotion. In Scotland and Wales, all alcohol is excluded from the offer.

Other items you cannot use to claim the coupons are:

  • Collection or delivery charge
  • First-stage baby milk
  • Tobacco and related products
  • Gift vouchers, savings or postage stamps
  • E-top-up or mobile phone vouchers
  • Fuel
  • Travel money
  • Phone cards
  • Gaming (games, consoles, accessories, etc) or charity products

As well as offering online deals to customers, the retail giant is extending a long-running offer to its smaller convenience stores.

Sainsbury’s is expanding its Aldi Price Match for up to 200 products in the smaller stores to compete with the budget retailer.

The extension of the deal will now include 800 smaller stores in addition to the 600 supermarkets it already appears in.

Tesco toy treat

Tesco has announced that the majority of its most popular toys, according to toy shop collaborator The Entertainer, will cost under £20 this year. Last month, it reduced the prices on some toys by more than 50% in a deal that ended on 3 November.

The top seven toys to remain below £20 are:

Toy
Price
LOL Surprise! Loves Crayola Tots Doll £10
Early Learning Centre Trainset £14.99
Little Live Pets NeeDees Interactive Pet  £10
Totally Tracks Jurassic Adventure Race Track £10
Bluey’s Escape Convertible Playset £19.99
Fugglers – Gold Fugglers £8 each
Nick Jr. Ready Steady Dough Rainbow Delight Playset £13.50

One ongoing offer is from Morrisons and its recently rebranded More Card loyalty scheme. If you are a Morrisons More Card member, you can bag £6 off a £30 spend in-store or online up until the 17 November.

This does not apply to its Daily stores and the minimum spend is applied after the More Card discounts are deducted.

Much like Sainsbury’s offer, there are exclusions, which include fuel, online games, tobacco and vapes as well as infant milk.

Other exclusions are:

  • Lottery
  • Prescription medicines
  • Mobile phone cards
  • Stamps
  • Car park tickets
  • Dry cleaning
  • Garden centre purchases
  • Photo processing
  • Pharmacy services

Meanwhile, with the nights drawing in rapidly, two retailers have made some festive fan favourites cheaper than usual for loyalty card holders.

Tesco has cut the price of both its Bailey’s Original Irish Cream Liqueur Bottle and Light Irish alternative in a 70cl to just £8 for Clubcard holders.

This is a reduction from £10 before and marks a more than 50% drop to non-Clubcard holders.

Sainsbury’s has a case of 10 x 440ml cans of Thatcher’s cider (original) on offer for £11 or two for £18 if you have a Nectar Card.

This offer of goodwill is extended to a 24-pack of Ferrero Rocher Milk Chocolate Pralines Gift Box, which is down from £10.50 to £6.50 for members of its loyalty scheme.
