The summer is almost over, so attention turns to the return of school in September (sorry kids), and the freshest supermarket offers this month are dominated by deals for parents and guardians.

While there are plenty of offers to make the most of, many require you to have a loyalty card.

This month, shoppers were warned by Which? of the “murky and confusing” prices that come with signing up to supermarkets’ membership schemes.

Some products in major retailers were discounted with ‘special offer’ prices longer than they were at the standard retail price, leading the consumer champion to question how special the offers were.

Either way, if you do not want to miss out on the lower prices, now might still be a good as time as ever to sign up to your local supermarket’s scheme.

The discounts and deals in YourMoney.com’s September best offers and discounts round-up all apply for a limited time only.

Aldi launches £100 prize draw

Continuing the school theme, Aldi has launched a fund for families concerned with the costs that come with readying their children for the new term.

The budget retailer will give a £100 voucher to 100 customers selected at random throughout September.

To stand a chance of winning the voucher, all you need to do is email AldiBTSFund@citypress.co.uk. The retailer notes there are no specific requirements for what needs to be in the email.

Elsewhere, Morrisons is slashing 2,000 prices for those customers with a More Card membership during September.

These discounts, available both in-store and online, are targeted at branded products that are staple items in your cupboard.

They include (former price in brackets):

  • Heinz Tomato Ketchup – £2 (£3.40)
  • Huggies Pure Extra Care Wipes – £7 (£11)
  • Sure Deodorant – £2.40 (£3.50)

For all customers to take advantage of, the supermarket has also added more than 70 products to its Aldi and Lidl price match on vegetables including broccoli, plus mince, cheese, potatoes and rice.
