Click and collect and delivery orders are also affected by technical issues at Morrisons, potentially leaving households without their Christmas food.
The supermarket has been advertising heavy discounts on Christmas dinner food, including vegetables, in the past week.
What is the Morrisons More Card?
The Morrisons More Card is a loyalty programme that allows customers to earn points, receive discounts, and get exclusive offers.
Customers can earn points by scanning their card or app at checkout for select products in store or online. Once customers have 5,000 points, they can convert them into a Morrisons Fiver, which can be redeemed for a future purchase in store or online. Customers can also receive exclusive prices by scanning their card or app.
Apologies
A statement on Morrisons’ website said: “This morning we are experiencing some system issues [that] are principally impacting some More Card discounts and Click and Collect orders. For More Card customers who have Morrisons Fivers to redeem, these will be done manually in store by colleagues. And if More Card prices are not registering, we will apply a 10% discount to the customer’s entire shop.

“For Click and Collect orders, we are asking customers to wait for an email to inform them that their order is ready for collection before heading to store. Some home delivery orders may be arriving late today – and we will be communicating directly with those customers affected. We sincerely apologise to our customers for this inconvenience.”
The retailer later told YourMoney.com: “In short, to overcompensate, the top 100 More Card prices will become the regular price (for all customers, whether they are More Card customers or not– so a great offer).
“And all More Card customers will get an additional 10% off their entire shop today and tomorrow as an apology.”
Venting frustration
Customers have taken to social media to complain about the issues, with some saying that the promised 10% discount either wasn’t applied to their bill or wasn’t adequate for their losses.
On the supermarket’s Facebook page, comments included: “I wasn’t given a discount and they couldn’t apply my £40 vouchers. I was told there [was] nothing I could do and I had to pay full price.”
Another shopper wrote: “Morrisons, I shopped in store this morning and was not given a 10% discount on what ended up being a £111 shop. Also, the savings would have totalled more than 10% of my total shop.”
Shoppers also took to X (formerly Twitter) to vent their frustrations. One user wrote: “@Morrisons Are you having an IT issue? I got an email saying there was an issue with my delivery so it would be late, and now I can’t even log in. I booked this slot months ago and seriously concerned I’m going to be without food for Christmas!”
Another wrote: “@Morrisons I’m due to have my Christmas order delivered today between 16.30 and 17.30. It has my turkey and everything I need for Christmas on [it]. I’ve just had an email from you saying you couldn’t fulfil my order and it’s been cancelled. What am I meant to do, I can’t get to shops.”
