AA Cars’ ranking of the used cars that sell most quickly found that the Toyota C-HR is the fastest out of the blocks, taking the top spot from the Mazda CX5, which was the favourite model last year. The first four spots in the ranking were all taken by SUVs, with the Mercedes GLA, the Kia Niro, and the Volvo XC40 in the top places.
The Toyota in the top spot is a compact crossover vehicle that first launched in 2016. Autotrader gives it a four-star review, particularly praising its fuel economy and emissions rating.
James Hosking, director of AA Cars, said compact SUVs are particularly popular as they are “suitable for a wide variety of needs and budget[s]”.
“These versatile vehicles are highly sought after by families,” he added.
New entries into this year’s top 10 include the Audi A4, Mercedes E Class, and Mercedes C Class.

Fiesta keeps its star status
Despite ceasing production last year, AA figures showed that the Ford Fiesta retains its place in the nation’s hearts as the most searched-for vehicle on the AA car site.
The car has held this position for a decade, while another Ford favourite, the Focus, took second place.
Hosking said these figures underlined Ford’s “continued strong market presence”, while only two SUVs made it onto the list of the 10 most searched-for cars – the Land Rover Defender and Volkswagen Tiguan.

All-time bestseller
The Ford Fiesta is the all-time best-selling car, and the last one left the factory in July last year in Cologne. Production of the vehicle there has been replaced by a new electric vehicle (EV) line, with Ford saying the decision is part of a transition to an “all-electric future”.
