HSBC and Amex card holders can pick up some freebies at the tennis championships, while those watching on TV can net some cheap traditional treats at the supermarket.

In spite of Britain’s dashed hopes of championship victory after both Andy Murray and Emma Raducanu were knocked out in the second round, at least tennis-goers can enjoy the best of British fare with several perks on offer.

HSBC, First Direct and M&S customers can claim a voucher for free strawberries and cream by showing a bank card at the customer booth at Wimbledon. It opens from 10am to 7pm daily until Sunday 10 July.

You can redeem the voucher at any of the food stalls on site. It’s a maximum of one offer per day, and subject to availability.

American Express also has a host of freebies on offer to customers, including an in-ear radio so fans can tune in for live updates from across the tournament. You can get one (subject to availability) from American Express branded kiosks, the ‘fan experience’ from 10am to 7pm, cardmember lounge (beside gate 12, from 10:30am to 7pm), the ‘queue’ as well as Wimbledon and Southfields stations. These can then be handed back to be recycled.

Spending £120 or more on your Amex card will also net you a one-off £20 credit back to your statement if you enrol your card at any American Express benefit location within the Wimbledon complex.

Card holders can also get a 20% discount at the official Wimbledon online shop throughout the championships.

The Amex ‘fan experience’ found in the Southern village also offers ‘unique onsite experiences and services’ which includes a nail bar offering four tennis theme designs, as well as two interactive games.

For fans watching games, sets and matches at home, there are also some special offers from the supermarkets.

Asda has a ‘time for tea’ bundle with scones, jam and clotted cream for £4.15. For £2.50, you can pick up strawberries and a pot of double cream from Sainsbury’s.

Those fancying a tipple with their tennis can get a bottle of Pimm’s for £12 at Morrisons, down from £20. The offer’s on for orders by 19 July. It also offers a full afternoon tea, with scones and sandwiches included, for a tenner.
