Tokyo International airport has been voted the best place in the world to fly from, according to aviation experts. But do any UK airports feature in the flying club?

Based on average on-time flights, parking fees, drop-off costs, passenger count, and the number of restaurants and shops on site, Tokyo International (Haneda) Airport was found to be the best airport on the planet.

The study by Cabin Crew HQ evaluated major airports worldwide and ranked them out of 100 for each category.

Its analysis found Tokyo airport topped the charts for the least delays, with an average of 88.4% on-time performance, while it was deemed third best for most restaurant choices and also made the grade for its cheap parking too.

The Aeropuerto Internacional de la Ciudad de México “Lic Benito Juárez” has the greatest number of restaurants, boasting 168 spots for a bite to eat.

Meanwhile, Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Indonesia had the cheapest airport car parking, costing $2.8 a week vs Miami International Airport of $39.

No UK airports made the top 10

Airports in the United States dominated the overall top 10, with six flying high in the rankings. Of the six included, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International proved to be the nation’s best.

While the UK’s Liverpool John Lennon was voted the top airport in Britain based on thousands of responses to a Which? consumer champion study, it failed to make the cut in the worldwide rankings. And there were no other UK airports listed in this latest rundown.

For frequent flyers, this may be unsurprising considering the turbulent times many passengers have faced across the country, with staff strikes and mass flight cancellations.
